KLM Sea Safari 8, with a length of 34m and a beam of 10m is a spacious liveaboard schooner, ideal for cruising in the vast Indonesian waters. This luxury schooner, built in traditional Phinisi style, comfortably accommodates up to 24 divers on liveaboard cruises around Raja Ampat and Cenderawasih Bay. Unlike with many other boats in this area, you can enjoy itineraries from as little as 6 nights so this is a great choice for those short on time or budget.

The KLM Sea Safari 8 liveaboard in Raja Ampat

There are plenty of areas you can choose to relax in, and enjoy the high quality décor and ambience. You may socialise in the one of the 2 air-conditioned saloons. The main deck saloon has an adjoining dining area and is also a spacious and is enjoyed at meal times or simply for chatting over a coffee. The upper deck saloon is a spacious lounging area with wooden finishings, comfortable sofas and full entertainment facilities. Above this is the sun deck where you can work on your tan and observe the spectacular passing scenery of Raja Ampat.

Cabins are all en-suite and are mostly twins or doubles, with Deluxe double cabins on the main deck and Standard twin and double cabins on the lower deck. There is 1 Standard 3-share bunk cabin and 1 Standard 4-share bunk cabin. Photographers will appreciate the camera table and on-board computer for image editing. From the dive deck, sun deck, cabins and saloon, everything on board the KLM Sea Safari 8 liveaboard can be described as comfortable, well-appointed and most notably, spacious.

Cruise price per person includes: Cabin accommodation, breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, drinking water, hot drinks, land tour, return airport transfers in Sorong, dives (as detailed in the trips above), experienced English-speaking divemasters (1 guide to 6 divers), tanks, weight and weightbelts, cruise accident insurance.

Cruise price per person excludes (mandatory, unless customer provides own): Scuba equipment (US$ 35 per day), Raja Ampat National park fee (US$ 135) to be paid in advance, Cenderawasih Bay (US$ 180) to be paid in advance. Unless otherwise stated, all the listed items need to be paid on arrival.

Optional extras: Additional soft drinks, alcoholic drinks, nitrox fills for enriched air certified divers (US$ 20 per day), torches, diving computer, dive insurance, Unless otherwise stated, all the listed items need to be paid on arrival.

How to get there: The Sea Safari VIII normally departs from Sorong or Manokwari in West Papua. You can fly directly to Sorong from Jakarta, Ujung Pandang (Makassar) and Manado. From Bali there are convenient connections via Ujung Pandang (Makassar) and Manado. You can fly direct to Manokawri from Jakarta, via Ujung Pandang. We will help you arrange return domestic flights between Bali or Jakarta and Sorong or Manokwari. There is a transfer service from the local airport to and from the boat. For more information see our West Papua travel information section. For liveaboard trips using other departure ports we will assist you with information on how to get there. The last dive of the trip will be at around 16:00 hrs on the second last day of the trip. Please wait at least 18 hours before flying after diving.

Non-diver rate: US$ 30 per night off the published price.

Single supplement (if you do not want to share accommodation): This is optional - single travellers may choose to share a cabin or pay a supplement of 50% of the published price.

Dive clubs and group discounts: Pay for 12 guests and 1 additional person can join the cruise in a Standard free of charge (total 13 or more guests). Pay for 16 guests and 2 additional persons can join the cruise in a Standard cabin free of charge (total 18 or more guests). Pay for 18 guests and 2 additional persons can join the cruise in a Standard cabin free of charge (total 20 or more guests). See whole boat charter rate below; a minimum of 10 guests may charter the whole boat.

The Sea Safari 8 has 12 cabins with en-suite bathrooms, including 4 Deluxe double bed cabins with windows on the main deck, and 8 Standard cabins with portholes on the lower deck. The Standard cabins comprise 2 double bed cabins, 2 twin bed cabins, 3 cabins with bunk beds and 1 4-share bunk bed cabin (normally 2 share).

Menu, Cuisine Type...
Food is high on the agenda for guests on board the Sea Safari 8 liveaboard trips with a philosophy of sleep - dive - eat (well)! Meals and snacks take place before and after every dive and the evening meals feature set theme menus such as Italian, Chinese and BBQ. Beer and wine is available for purchase and complimentary items such as fruit, tea and coffee are available throughout the day.
  • Indonesian and international dishes, including Chinese, Japanese and BBQs, usually with a choice of 5 different dishes per sitting.
  • Buffet and waitress service for pre-dive breakfast, breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks.
  • Complimentary snacks include biscuits, candy bars, ice creams, bread/toast and fruit.
  • Coffee, tea and drinking water are free of charge.
  • 3 cans per day of soft drinks or beer are included. Additional soft drinks, beer and wine are available for purchase.
  • The cruise dining service begins with lunch on the first day of the tour.
